There’s a definite autumn chill in the air that’s getting frostier with each passing day; dropping temperatures and shorter days create cravings for hot foods come lunch time. Winter is on the way, baby!

One of the very best parts of winter is enjoying all the hot and nourishing meals on offer to warm us up from the inside on icy days. Our go-to? Delicious, comforting and filling soup! There’s nothing like a nourishing bowl of soup to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

With many of us looking to increase our intake of vegetables (and their vitamins), soup is the perfect choice with a variety of nutrients and the many health-promoting compounds all in the one bowl!

Soups are full of healthy, nutrient-dense vegetables, legumes and other fibre-filled ingredients which come together to deliver appealing textures and fantastic flavours. Even leafy vegetables that are a great source of fibre (such as kale and spinach) can be added! Soup with the right ingredients can also boost to your immune system and work as an anti-inflammatory: for example, research shows that chicken soups may help to prevent inflammatory white cells from reaching other parts of the body and therefore, have the ability to decrease symptoms associated with colds.
