A fresh new menu has landed at SumoSalad! We’ve got colourful new salad bowls, tasty grab and go options, more ways to customise your meals and an exciting new plant-based protein on offer! We caught up with our head chef, Kim Lockyer, to find out more about the healthy and delicious new menu.

Our Buddha Bowl
The star of our new menu is the Buddha Bowl. This deliciously fresh made-to-order salad comes with Fry’s plant-based schnitzel. This is our brand new vegan protein that can be swapped into any salad or grain bowl!

“Our Buddha Bowl is summer in a salad,” says Kim. “It’s fresh, nutritious and uses lots of raw veg. The bowl is made with avocado, cucumber, beetroot and cabbage on a bed of sweet potato, tahini freekeh and baby spinach, then topped with a vegan Sriracha mayo, cashews and pepitas for extra crunch! Our Buddha Bowl is served with our plant-based schnitzel, but you can swap in your favourite protein if you prefer.”

Fry’s Plant-Based Schnitzel
This season, we’ve introduced a new vegan protein to our menu! Fry’s plant-based schnitzel is made with soy and flaxseed. It’s a good source of omega-3s, protein, iron and fibre. Plus, it tastes delicious!

“We’re really excited to introduce Fry’s plant-based schnitzel as a new protein on our menu as customers move towards a more plant based diet,” says Kim. “It’s a great vegan option and it tastes delicious, too! You can swap Fry’s into any of our made-to-order bowls, which means there are so many new plant-based bowls to choose from. Fry’s schnitzel comes with our colourful new Buddha Bowl, but it would also be delicious swapped into our Katsu Chicken grain bowl or even our Warm Thai Beef salad bowl. The choice is yours!”

Deli Salads
Our deli salads are perfect when you need to grab a quick bite on the run! This season, fresh new flavours have landed in the deli. Try one or mix and match!

“We’re excited about tasty new salads available in our deli! They’re all made fresh daily,” explains Kim. “Our Poké Bowl was a hit last season, so we’ve created a delicious grab and go version for our deli. Another tasty addition is our Chicken and Haloumi salad. For this one, we’ve combined some of our favourite ingredients, including chicken, haloumi, avocado and sweet potato, to create a hearty and healthy new favourite. It’s also hard to beat the classic flavour combination of our new Beetroot and Fetta salad! If you’re after something light and fresh with a bit of zing – our Asian Chicken Noodle salad is a winner. Made with vermicelli noodles, crunchy red cabbage, shredded chicken and red capsicum, topped with chopped cashews, it’s a great summer salad.”

We know you want more freedom to switch up your salads, so this season we’ve introduced Flexibowls! You can change the protein in our four bestselling bowls, so there’s more options to create the salad of your dreams!

“This season, customers can customise their favourite bowls! You can now swap the protein in our Buddha Bowl, Nourish Bowl, Poké Bowl and Teriyaki Beef Bowl,” says Kim. “There’s six tasty proteins to choose from. This means more delicious flavour combinations and more freedom to enjoy your bowl, your way.”
