Think.Eat.Save

Food wastage is an international issue with over 1 Trilion Dollars of salvageable food thrown away, and two thirds of that comes from 1st world countries. With so many starving across the globe, how can we correct the imbalance between food waste and the obvious need for food relief?

The answer is education, and that’s exactly what Think.Eat.Save is all about.

On Monday 26th July, Australia’s leading food rescue organisation OzHarvest again partnered with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to fight food waste at Think.Eat.Save events across the country, kicking off in Sydney’s Martin Place.

Our SumoSalad CEO Luke Baylis and the #SumoSalad team joined with OzHarvest to offer the public a free and delicious hot lunch created from produce that would otherwise have ended up as landfill and help raise awareness of global food waste.

As part of our #HeatUpTheStreet initiative, guests were treated to delicious Harvested Greens and Pumpkin Soup Slammers in the heart of the Sydney CBD in the name of education and food wastage reform.

Additional stalls from Rockpool Group, ARIA, The Star and BlackStar Pastry also created delicious menus from “rescued” food items showcasing their creative culinary talent! Spirits were high, tastebuds treated and tummys full as guests listened to a live panel discussion from food industry experts on food waste, food security and sustainability.
