Walking Named the Superfood of Fitness

Walking the new Superfood

Walk, don’t run. Image via Wikipedia

Researchers have named walking the superfood of fitness. This comes off the back of research that it is better to consistently move around during the day, rather than cram in an hour of exercise to compensate for sitting the rest of the day.

“Walking is a superfood. It’s the defining movement of a human,” said Katy Bowman, a biomechanist based in Ventura, California. “It’s a lot easier to get movement than it is to get exercise.”

While we are all for fitness “superfoods”, we don’t recommend replacing walking with eating. It is not nearly as delicious.

Pot Plant Rehab

We loved this story over on Broadsheet about Preloved Roots Garden Nursery in Alexandria, Sydney.

The nursery rescues pot plants and even garden gnomes which are unwanted or no longer able to be cared for and brings them back to life for new owners. It’s all about recycling and giving back to the community at a cheaper price than a regular nursery.

Plus, you might even buy a plant with some fame attached. Some plants were loaned to The Great Gatsby! Helloooo Leoooo.

Eating with Bio-Individuality

Does it feel right? Eat it. Image via Pixabay:EvolvingScenes

A “new” way of eating has been explored over at News.com.au and we think it makes a bit of sense. It’s based on something called “Bio-Individuality” which essentially means that people are all different and as a result have different biological needs for their body.

This suggests that we should be eating what feels right for us as individuals, based on how our own chemicals interact with the chemicals in food.

Of course, a bit of common sense is required here; just because a tub of ice-cream might feel right doesn’t necessarily mean it is. Or does it….

Sexy Fruit and Vegetable Costumes

For those of you planning a Halloween costume (and who isn’t!), the theme of creating “sexy” versions of things continues. American costume site, Yandy, have vamped up costumes for carrots, corn, pineapples, and the list goes on (and on).

We’re not sure we could pull them all off, but ‘Cutie Carrot’ definitely has us tempted…

That’s all for this week!
