Fitness trends for 2015

We’ve trawled the fitness world for you and from what we’ve learnt, next year’s fitness trends are all about going back to basics and saving money on gym memberships. After a Christmas feast & credit cards to clear that sounds like good news to us!

Without further ado, here is what you’ll be getting physical with…

1. Body weight training: This is taking fitness right back to basics, using your own body weight as resistance. The great thing about this is its flexibility – you can do this type of training in the park, at the gym, or at home. And free. Exercises include all the classics, pushups, squats and sit ups. Want to give it a go but need some guidance? This Fitness Blender video will put you through your paces!

2. HIIT heats up: Already a popular trend this year, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) will continue to be hot, hot, hot in 2015. This training style focuses on short bursts of active exercises with even shorter rest periods in between each set. The sessions are usually 30 minutes or less, and because you work for short periods you spend more time in the upper end of aerobic activity than you would if you try to do it continuously. This makes the training style very efficient. You can also do this style of training by yourself at home or outdoors, as there are plenty of great Apps for your phone which will look after the timing part of things.

3. Men loving yoga: We know, yoga is nothing new, but it’s always been much more popular with women than men. That’s all going to change next year though, with more blokes realising it’s a great way to help recover from sports injuries, reduce from stress and increase flexibility. Watch our Bondi Hipsters! We can’t wait to see the Lululemon men’s range (No?).
